Ames Tribune Article: ISU student to work on U.N. architecture project

On Their First Day at the U.S. Mission, the interns formed three groups and set to work on the project.

An Iowa State University landscape architecture student departed Saturday for a two-week stint in Geneva, Switzerland, where he will work on a landscape design for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

Damon Sanchez, a 24-year-old from Glenview, Ill., was selected from among 130 student applicants nationwide, and said he was relieved to be chosen.

“I actually had a pretty long internship search, partially due to the bad economy, so I feel pretty honored to be chosen for this,” Sanchez said.
